Beyoncé, Hudson honoured at BET Awards

Beyoncé and her 'Dreamgirls' co-star Jennifer Hudson each took two awards at last night's BET Awards in Los Angeles, an annual event which honours black actors, singers and sports stars.

Beyoncé won video of the year for 'Irreplaceable' and was also named best female R&B artist. Hudson took the awards for won best new artist and best female actress.

Hudson previously won an Oscar for her performance in 'Dreamgirls' as did last night's best male actor winner, Forest Whitaker ('The Last King of Scotland').

Ne-Yo was the winner of the award for best male R&B artist, while Gnarls Barkley won for best group.

Other winners included TI, who was named best hip-hop artist and Ludacris won best collaboration for 'Runaway Love', featuring Mary J Blige.

Actor Don Cheadle, who won the humanitarian award, was the subject of a tribute that focused on his efforts to raise awareness about genocide in Darfur.

Diana Ross was honoured with a lifetime achievement award.
