ISAAC HAYES FOUND DEAD
This morning, Relatives found Hayes, 65, unconscious in his home next to a still-running treadmill, said Steve Shular, a spokesman for the Shelby County Sheriff's Department.
Paramedics attempted to revive him and took him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 2 p.m., the sheriff's department said.
No foul play is suspected, the agency said in a written statement.
Hayes was a longtime songwriter and arranger for Stax Records in Memphis, playing in the studio's backup band and crafting tunes for artists such as Otis Redding and Sam and Dave in the 1960s.
He released his first solo album in 1967, and his 1969 follow-up, "Hot Buttered Soul," became a platinum hit.
In 1971, the theme from "Shaft" topped the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks and won an Academy Award for best original theme song. The song and the movie score also won Grammy awards for best original score and movie theme.
Hayes won a third Grammy for pop instrumental performance with the title track to his 1972 "Black Moses" album.
From the late 1990s through 2006, Hayes provided the voice of "Chef" for Comedy Central's raunchy animated series "South Park," as well as numerous songs.
The role introduced him to a new generation of fans, but he left after the show lampooned his own religion, the Church of Scientology.
He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002. In a CNN interview at the time, Hayes credited his success to "adjusting and constantly evolving, expanding and trying to stay as young as I can."
The new generation of popular musicians, he said, "could use a little more substance like we had in the day."
"They're standing on our shoulders. Some of them don't realize [it] because they sample me so much," he said.
Hayes credited his role on "South Park" with expanding his fan base, and said that he had almost passed on the job.
"I started to walk out. I thought it was a Disney thing. I [had] never heard of this thing," he said. But his agent persuaded him to tape some episodes.
"Toward the opening I started having trepidations -- 'Oh my god, what have I done? I've ruined my career.' But when it aired, the ratings went through the roof," he said.

R.I.P. BERNIE MAC
Mac, whose real name is Bernard McCullough, passed away early this morning at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He was 50 years old.
''Actor/comedian Bernie Mac passed away this morning from complications due to pneumonia in a Chicago area hospital,'' his publicist, Danica Smith, said in a statement from Los Angeles.
She said no other details were available and asked that his family's privacy be respected.
The comedian suffered from sarcoidosis, an inflammatory lung disease that produces tiny lumps of cells in the body's organs, but had said the condition went into remission in 2005. He recently was hospitalized and treated for pneumonia, which his publicist said was not related to the disease.
The day before he died, Mac's rep insisted he was stable, in no danger and expected to be released within the week, even though it was clear Mac was on his death bed. I always get worried when I hear a young person catches a case of pneumonia that proves to be deadly (yes 50 is young folks).. It makes me wonder in certain cases who may be suffering from Acute Immune Deficiency. Nevertheless, Your boy will be missed. RIP BERNIE MAC!!Thursday, July 31, 2008
FOX News Exposed as being a White House propaganda tool
One of our best-kept secrets is the degree to which a handful of huge corporations control the flow of information in the United States. Whether it is television, radio, newspapers, magazines, books or the Internet, a few giant conglomerates are determining what we see, hear and read. And the situation is likely to become much worse as a result of radical deregulation efforts by the Bush administration and some horrendous court decisions.
Television is the means by which most Americans get their “news.” Without exception, every major network is owned by a huge conglomerate that has enormous conflicts of interest. Fox News Channel is owned by Rupert Murdoch, a right-wing Australian who already owns a significant portion of the world’s media. His network has close ties to the Republican Party, and among his “fair and balanced” commentators is Newt Gingrich.
NBC is owned by General Electric, one of the largest corporations in the world — and one with a long history of anti-union activity. GE, a major contributor to the Republican Party, has substantial financial interests in weapons manufacturing, finance, nuclear power and many other industries. Former CEO Jack Welch was one of the leaders in shutting down American plants and moving them to low-wage countries like China and Mexico.
ABC is owned by the Disney Corp., which produces toys and products in developing countries where they provide their workers atrocious wages and working conditions.
CBS is owned by Viacom, another huge media conglomerate that owns, among other entities, MTV, Showtime, Nickelodeon, VH1, TNN, CMT, 39 broadcast television stations, 184 radio stations, Paramount Pictures and Blockbuster Inc.
The essential problem with television is not just a right-wing bias in news and programming, or the transformation of politics and government into entertainment and sensationalism. Nor is it just the constant bombardment of advertising, much of it directed at children. It’s that the most important issues facing the middle-class and working people of our country are rarely discussed. The average American does not see his or her reality reflected on the television screen.

CNN'S BLACK IN AMERICA DISAPPOINTS Viewers Comment....
You know I promoted the whole BLACK IN AMERICA trailer in the hopes that it would give the next generation some education on our heritage. Talk about our struggles and how we have to overcome. How it is harder to get ahead in White America to this day. I thought it would go into the poor educational system for the poverty stricken. Maybe talk about how when crack was introduced into the poorest of neighbors, how it ruined a lot of lives...purposely. Of course they wouldn't go to that extreme, but I thought since Soledad O'brien researched for 18 months black women and men that she would have discovered some interviewees with some solutions. and I really hoped that she wouldn't put a crack head or somebody with no teeth on there! Nope. Sure enough she went the safe way out. I guess she has to keep her job. I believe CNN is going to do more series on different subjects affecting blacks in America. I think every month. Don't quote me.
I had a brief discussion over the series with my brother this afternoon and he didn't seem bothered by the show either way. And he usually looking for the media to sugar coat, misinform or half ass the black related material they throw at us...but he really didn't have much to say... That bothered me. I wanted to feel something after waiting (and promoting) this skim the surface (supposedly in depth) documentary. Check out some of the comments I found on the web...there's a lot of people who feel the same way as me. We can't all be crazy CNN...
I felt that the two part series was rushed...which left me feeling empty. Perhaps, Part 1 and Part 2 could have been aired over a two week period, allowing more time to explore each segment. What a BIG let down...Read on Click here.
Ok CNN, let’s see if you can do better.. Ah two black men in little rock - one light and one dark. The light one makes it; the dark one falters and then is redeemed through the Church. Finally the two black americas. Let’s get it CNN. The story is familiar - black boy told he shouldn’t go to college, he’d do better being a garabage man. He decides to join the army and goes to Vietnam. He comes back and robs a bank. He goes to jail, comes out and he gets hooked on crack. He stays addicted. He has no relationship with her daughter. He hits rock bottom and turns his life around. He changes his name to an African name, and he becomes a minister. A nice happy ending. Click Here to read the rest of this comment.
As a black woman, I was excited to watch a documentary about myself on a respected network such as CNN. I thought I might learn something new, I was disappointed for many reasons. Click here to read all of this commentary...Being Black in America has been paved by historical and present social and political policy. Everyone speaks of solutions while avoiding how the problems began. For instance Black females have always been forced into the position of head of the household this started during slavery when the family by law could be divided and inventory needed to be increased. When welfare was offered to African American Women during the 1960’s it required that no male be present in the home again creating the female headed household.
My point is if solution are truly the goal, then true insight into how these conditions have evolved must be examined there is a beginning to every situation. Without such true insight the question will forever remain “What are the solutions?”
On the subject “Missing Fathers”, where are the Fathers I kept waiting for someone to mention how the “System” is designed? The “System” is designed to keep the male out of the house! If a women has a child she can get help from the government if the man is NOT around. It is more beneficial to the woman - link card, subsidised housing, medical ibenefits.
In order to find a solution, you must go back to the origin of the problem. The system needs to be revamped. Some incentives or assistance should be given to the FAMILY not just to single moms!
I found the last two comments on Anderson Cooper's blog, also an anchor on CNN, click here to read the rest.
Very interesting comments indeed. I didn't feel that the show brought any new insight to blacks or whites for that matter. Same old same old. They did bust Washington DC out for having that high percentage of residents with the HIV or AIDS virius. 1 out of every 20 residents are walking around with it. I just felt that it didn't dwelve into the real problems and solutions facing all americans today. Race is not going to even matter in a minute. It's going to be about Rich or Poor. One good thing that I can say about this shallow series is that it has started a lot of interesting conversations. Maybe Spike Lee will come out with a more intensive researched documentary on Blacks. Go back in history and show how our family bond was broken in the beginning! Yes people 400 years ago. Let's get our culture back and be proud of it.

NEW VIDEO: TERRENCE J ROASTS ROCSI ON 106&PARK
Last Friday, July 11th I had to check my channels twice when I threw the boob tube on BET. I couldn't decipher whether I was watching 106 & Park, or a roast of Rocsi. What had happened was Terrence J (the busted one) the male host of the hit video show was clowning Rocsi the whooole show. He was busting her out about how she was stuttering over her words and asked if she knew how to read. He told her that her breath stunk and she needed a mint, and asked her why she didn’t look as good as Ciara. He continued to diss her, until she finally left off the stage during the 2nd video on the countdown and refused to close out the show. I stopped watching it before she left out. I happened to being tuning into the Rude Jude show on Shade 45 and they played audio from the show and announced that she didn't even finish taping. She is a good one. She maintained her professionalism, but I would have hung in there a clowned his corny ass. I definitely wouldn't have stomped off the set. They don't pay that well, they will replace her in a minute. What they should do is make him publicly apologize to her. My guess is that they have had a torrent affair since they both started hosting and finally it was time to break it off, and Terrence being the bitch that he is, showed his WHOLE ASS on national television.
Were they or were they not a couple? Look at how goofy this dude looks...can you imagine??

PHARRELL TO UNDER GO REVOLUTIONARY TATOO REMOVAL
With a new album [click to read], a successful tour, and flourishing fashion presence, producer Pharrell Williams is gettin' his grown man on and starting with a clean slate...quite literally.
The N.E.R.D frontman and fashion trend setter revealed this week to Brittish Vogue that his tattoos no longer fit his lifestyle and so he is trying a revolutionary new tattoo removal procedure, which involves applying replicated skin over old body art.
"It's basically like getting a skin graft, but you're not taking skin from your ass or your legs. These guys actually grow the skin for you," he explained. "First you have to give them a sample of your skin, which they then replicate. Once that's been done, they sew it on - and it's seamless."
Fake skin on your skin? I don't know...To Read on Click HERE

UPDATE: Soulja Girl Arrested
Crazy Girl On The Train (Techno Mix)
We posted the now infamous “Soulja Girl” you tube video the other day. You know the crazy girl on the Marta who wanted to press charges. Anyway, I guess because of all the publicity the video got, she was arrested this past weekend and was being held in Dekalb County jail on $300 bond. Her family stated she suffera from bi-polar disorder and hadn’t taken her medication. Is everybody bi-polar nowadays?
Now somebody put together the audio from her rant on the train, and added a beat and is calling it “The I’mma Press Charges” Techno Remix.
You know I got that audio. Big Props to B Scott. If you're not hip to her "Crazy girl on train" video click HERE.
