MUSIC NEWS: BRANDY OFF THE HOOK!

That's really good for her. We miss you on the scene Brandy, now get back to work!

Props to: Sohh.com

So, finally, R&B singer Brandy has been officially cleared of any wrongdoing related to the fatal car accident she was involved in last year.

As SOHH previously reported, authorites recently announced their belief that Awatef Aboudihaj, the woman who died in the car accident, struck the vehicle in front of her before Brandy made any contact with her car.

While the California Highway Patrol (C.H.P.) initially found Brandy responsible for Aboudihaj's death, the L.A. City Attorney have decided not to file charges against her, according to TMZ. The accident, which occurred on the San Diego freeway on Dec. 30, 2006, has caused a lot of controversy for the singer.

Brandy's attorney, Blair Berk, said she was satisfied with the decision.

"We are extremely pleased that after a more thorough and extensive investigation by authorities, the Los Angeles City Attorney has determined that Brandy Norwood should not be charged with any crime whatsoever relating to the accident back in 2006," Berk said via statement.

Berk went on to say that the last year has been a difficult one for Brandy in light of the C.H.P's initial accusations.

"These past 12 months have posed an extraordinary hardship for Brandy and her family, who have been unfairly forced to live under a cloud of suspicion initially caused by the ill-advised and premature press release sent out by the California Highway Patrol accusing Brandy of wrongdoing before the police investigation was even finished," Berk said. "However, Brandy continues to be mindful that she was so fortunate to be uninjured in this accident and there was a life lost that should be remembered."

Since the accident occurred, Brandy has been hit with four lawsuits, including suits by Aboudihaj's children, husband, a fellow motorist, Mallory Ham, and a $50 million wrongful death suit from Aboudihaj's parents.

In April, Brandy stepped down from her role as judge on "America's Got Talent," saying she couldn't give the new season the attention and commitment it deserved.

BRANDY ESCAPES CRIMINAL CHARGES

Brandy A usually greasy Brandy could ease her way out of criminal charges in relation to a fatal car crash in 2006, because prosecutors have less than a month remaining to legally press charges.

The slippery singer was involved in a four-car accident which killed mother-of-two Awatef Aboudihaj in Los Angeles on December 30th last year, but unless the L.A. City Attorney’s Office finds enough evidence to charge her before the first anniversary of the crash, Brandy will escape prosecution.

Bill Sayed, lawyer for the victim’s husband, Marouane Hdidou, insists the authorities must act quickly.

He tells TMZ, “There is a death and obviously reckless driving involved, which is enough evidence for an involuntary manslaughter charge. As to why the City Attorney has taken this long? I think we would all like to know. Brandy continues to live life with really no negative results … doing what Brandy is doing … as if though nothing has occurred here.”

Brandy was driving her brand new Range Rover northbound on the 405 Freeway in L.A. when traffic in front of her slowed down. She then hit Aboudijah’s car, which swerved to the left and was hit by another vehicle before crashing into the center divider. Awatef died in the hospital eight hours later from massive internal bleeding.

Now that’s what I call celebrity justice!

BRANDY SPEAKS TO PEOPLE MAG ABOUT NEW ALBUM

I've just got to get that album out," the pop star tells PEOPLE. "I have to get it out, if it's the last thing I do." Brandy's album, which does not currently have a title, would be her fifth studio album, and the first since 2004's critically well-received Afrodisiac. "I've been gone for a long time," says the 28-year-old R&B singer-actress, who spoke to PEOPLE at the recent Christian Audigier fashion show at L.A. Fashion Week. "I really want to give the fans something that they deserve to have. So, I'm working really hard on this. I really want to make it the best work I've done so far."
Police investigators recommended that Brandy be charged with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter, but the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office has yet to file charges. Brandy declined to comment on the accident or the lawsuits. But she tells PEOPLE that she's staying strong while making her new music. "I think it's really finding that belief in yourself, where you just have it no matter what's going on, no matter what anyone else says," she says. "I think that's the challenge, is to really have that belief in yourself."
She continues, "I'm really working on this thing. This is what I'm supposed to do. I'm destined to do it. You just keep affirming everyday, and it will just be there."
I can't wait until she comes back out.......I miss her music.

Wyclef - Sweetest Girl (ft. Akon, Lil’ Wayne & Nia) Following the success of his work with artists such as T.I. and Shakira, Wyclef has re-focused his creative energy onto his own solo material. This new track, 'Sweetest Girl', sees the former Fugees star team up with Akon, Lil' Wayne and newcomer Nia. I didn't anticipate liking the song, however after listening to it, I was pleasantly surprised. With it's laid back feel and catchy hook, the song is ideal for summer. Be on the lookout for Wyclef's as-yet-untitled new album, which will feature 'Sweetest Girl', around September. LISTEN: Sweetest Girl (ft. Akon, Lil’ Wayne & Nia) ----------------------------------- Brandy - Sweet Nothings With all the drama surrounding Brandy at present, it's great to hear some new material from the former 'Moesha' star. 'Sweet Nothings' was apparently recorded in the early part of last year and was produced by a European producer - perhaps explaining the 'eurocentric' vibe the song has to it. Brandy's trademark harmonies are also a feature on the song. Upon first listen the track didn't really captivate me, however it's definitely a grower and I found myself enjoying it the more I listened. It should be noted that the song will not be featured on the 'Afrodisiac' singer's new CD. LISTEN: Sweet Nothings ----------------------------------- Lil' Mama - Make It Hot 17 year old Lil' Mama got me -as well as everyone else - with her inescapable debut hit 'Lip Gloss' and the New Yorker is set to continue her rise with 'Make It Hot. Though not as instantly likable as 'Lip Gloss', the production on the track is on-point, as is Lil Mama's flow. Aside from the slighly annoying singing parts, the track is great. Her album 'The Voice of The Young People' is set to hit stores later this year. LISTEN: Make It Hot
