FREEWAY SPEAKS TO BILLBOARD ABOUT HIS NEW ALBUM+ 3 TRACKS REPOSTED 4 U
Freeway’s long-delayed sophomore LP Free At Last, hit record stores last week. The bearded emcee spoke to Billboard and his this to say:
“The album is soulful. I think it’s gonna be another classic. I didn’t fall into what people thought I was going to do or what everyone else is doing. If you’re a fan, you’ll love it.”
I had the chance the peep the project in its entirety early on and as of now it stands in my book as one of the best East Coast hip-hop albums in recent years. The project got a lot of hype a while back when it was revealed that Jay-Z and 50 Cent, arguably the most influential hip-hop executives in the music business, would be co-executive producing the album. Their influence is rather understated though. In fact, I can’t even tell what exactly they did besides appear on the project as guest emcees.
The beats are richly layered and feature textured soul samples over pulsating drums. And while Freeway’s growling, almost-out-of-breath delivery has often been his Achilles heel, here it works in his favor as he weaves in and out of tracks. He effectively reminds us why we fell in love with him in the first place on Jay’s “1-900 Hustler”
WE POSTED THE SONGS BELOW LAST WEEK, BUT FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DID NOT GET THEM....HERE YOU GO AGAIN
“Take It To The Top” ft. 50 Cent

NEW PICS: JAY-Z ALBUM RELEASE PARTY @ THE VELVET ROOM
Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter hosted a party to celebrate the release of his latest album, American Gangster, at the Velvet Room in Atlanta, Georgia on Sunday. Jermaine Dupri, Young Jeezy, Rick Ross, Beanie Segal and Freeway were among attendance.
Jay-Z, Young Jeezy and Jermaine Dupri kicked it.
Young Jeezy can’t hold his liquor…
Jay-Z is reportedly struggling to promote his latest album — prompting rumors that he regrets coming out of “retirement” too soon.
The star with 99 Problems, but a bitch ain’t one, who famously announced his retirement four years ago in ‘03 before making an official comeback last year in ‘06, is having difficulties getting support for his new album, American Gangster.
A source says, “He is scrambling - the first single, Blue Magic, isn’t being played on radio. It’s the first time in his career he’s not doing well.”
But a spokesman for the hip-hop mogul insists reports are unfounded.
Jay-Z’s rep, Jana Fleishman, says, “It’s not true at all. It’s a conceptual album, so we’re not focusing on one single.”
Jay-Z is like the Mike Jordan of rap. His comeback is only messing up his stats!
